Things have been a bit crazy around here lately. Like someone hit fast-forward. And not the normal fast-forward, I'm talking that super fast one with four arrows instead of two. You know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, there is a lot going on.... we're moving cross country, I went back to work and we have family visiting. I have a lot to say about it....but just not a lot of time.
So this is me checking in to say I haven't forgotten about the blog...I just won't get a chance to give updates until later this month.
This is us lately...
This mama has got shiz to do. Thanks for coming along for the ride and being such a helper, little one.
The general consensus is that this little girl looks like her daddy. I must say, she is awfully cute.
Every time she looks at her Daddy you can see her eyes swell with love. It melts my heart to see how much she already has him wrapped around her finger. Tim could have had a horrible day at work, but the second he gets home and gets a smile from his girl, his day is totally turned around.
For his first Father's Day, Makaela got him a fire pit, because she had so much fun at her first bonfire with Daddy...and because we will soon have a backyard to enjoy it in! She also got him some wine glasses because he is becoming a wino at his old age :-p
Makaela got Daddy a card and "wrote" him an I love you letter. This is a traditional that I hope continues at least until she is 18. I also got him a card to remind him how much I love him and appreciate the father that he is to our daughter.
We enjoyed breakfast at The Hub....our last time having their AMAZING breakfast pizza before the big move :(
Makaela is so blessed to have such a wonderful Daddy that loves her more than anything. I mean, she has pooped on him several times and he still loves the girl. He would do anything for her.
I am so lucky to get to watch their love for each other grow with each passing day.
Baby girl took her first nap in her big girl crib today! She did GREAT. She slept for an hour, while I stayed in her room just watching and quietly doing stuff on the computer. Rocky and Taylor also napped...under the crib. Dorks.
Up until now, she has been sleeping in her Rock and Play which I love because of the slight incline, the fact that it is easy to take from room to room, and the fact that it snuggles her and keeps her from moving around too much.
Truth be told, I've been the one holding her back from sleeping in her crib. I like having her near me at night! I like to hear every movement and see what she's up to, even if that means less-than-sound-sleep for me. Oh, and I have it in my head that the faster I respond to her the more she will trust that mommy and daddy are there for her and to not be scared or feel alone...so down the road she won't be scared or hesitant to take naps because she will KNOW that someone will be there when she wakes. Our doctors have said you can't "spoil" a baby this young, so I'm rollin' with it. It works for us :-)
Check out all these sleepy girl photos...there is nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby, am I right? BUT I think we can all agree this would be utterly CREEPY of me to have all these photos if she wasn't just an adorable itty bitty baby. Soooo if I'm still sneaking in her room to take pictures of her sleeping when she is 18, pool your money together and get me some therapy. K, thanks.
The best thing about her naps? When she wakes up and gives me the BIGGEST smile when I say "Good Mornnnnning Makaela!!" or "Hiiiii baby girl!" She sure does know how to show me the love with that gummy smile. Throw in a "coo" and I melt.
Remember how I mentioned we got to have a FREE professional photo shoot a couple weeks back? A local photographer is trying to establish her business and get some practice in, so we got to benefit from that as well.
I feel like I'm flooding the blog with photos this week but I can't help myself. We got the photos back - she actually gave us FORTY! Here are some of them....
Most of the photos I take are done with my cell phone, because, well that's what I usually have with me. I often feel like it's a chore to get out the fancy cam but I'm trying to make an effort to bust it out more often because the quality of the photos really is so much better...and it's worth it.
I've been trying to practice with some of the manual settings and here are a few of my favorite shots from the little photo session I had the other day. Fortunately, I have some pretty cute models at my disposal.
I have A LOT to learn, but hopefully I can get a few keepers along the way!!
Last weekend Tim surprised me with tickets to the KENNY CHESNEY concert at Century Link Field. Him and his friend Carson coordinated the whole thing. Carson and his wife have a brand new baby, so the guys thought it would be nice for them to be on baby-duty and give us mamas a night out! Oh and did I mention they got us limo service?!? Well done fellas, well done. Any time I can go downtown and not have to worry about traffic OR parking is a winning situation... and the fact that we could drink margaritas on the ride up there...come on now - perfection.
The guys stayed at Carson's with the little ladies. We left at 4PM and as we were pulling away Tim frantically chased after the car and Charles, the driver, goes "uhh oh." LOL. Tim had a look of absolute panic on his face...
Tim: "Where is her binky?!??"
Me: "Hanging from her carseat cover..."
Tim: "Oh okay. That would have been bad. Have fun!!"
We had an amazing time at the concert. We enjoyed $10.50 beers, pizza, garlic fries and Beecher's mac and cheese. Yep, we had appetites. We moved seats in between each act and ended up pretty darn close!
Nevermind the fact that the people behind us spilled beer on us multiple times and the girl in front of us kept lifting her dress....it beat the creepy couple we were behind before (the lady kept stroking her husband's greasy, stringy long hair that was trying to cover his balding head).
The guys reportedly had a good time too! They exchanged birth stories (oh dear...) had a bonfire and I received this photo update.
Makae was sleeping when I got back to Carson's which was about 1045. Tim said she finished a bottle at about 900. She slept the whole ride home and then continued to sleep until I awoke her at 300 am. The guys sure did do something right!!! I asked Tim if he drugged her or dipped her pacifier in alcohol. I was seriously concerned, but apparently fresh air and bonfire fumes do the trick!! Daddy/daughter time for the win.
This video was taken the following day, but I just had to share more Daddy/Daughter time <3
Check out this growing girl. Her little personality is really starting to shine through. The girl LOVES her some Alvin and the Chipmunks music. "All the Single Ladies (Put a ring on it)" originally song by Beyonce is her FAVE. She smiles and starts boppin around EVERY time it comes on.
She also got a new toy which is a large squishy block with a ball, a rattle, a mirror and some crunchy leaves attached. It's super fun and makes her smile. We love watching her "figure it out."
One of the cutest things she has recently begun doing is having "conversations." Lots of ooo's and ahh's and other happy baby noises. Her favorite friend to chat with is a particular monkey wall decal. Sometimes she yells at him though...and we have to remind her to be nice to her friends :-)
She's just a little doll. Here are some outtakes for fun....
Today was Makaela's 2 month well baby check. She is NINE weeks old today. I was anxious to find out her measurements and nervous for her shots!!
Right before she got measured and weighed she peed all over the exam table. A true girl....didn't want those ounces factored into her weight!
She is 12.35 pounds, which puts her in the 75th percentile and is consistent growth based on her last measurements. She is 24.4 inches tall, which puts her in the 97th percentile and is also consistent growth with previous measurements....our tall girl!
She checked out great and even snuggled in her doctors arms. Such a good baby.
Of course they saved her immunizations for last. She got one oral vaccine and three shots in her legs...sounds like more than any adult would want to go through, am I right?! I was beyond impressed with how she handled it. No more than 2 minutes of crying and she was over it! I would have rewarded her with Baskin Robbins if I could!
Way to go Super Mak!
Can we talk about how hilarious she is....puffing out her chest and arms like she's some kind of tough girl...we just had to scribble a super woman cape on her.
I shared this photo with Shanerz last week and we may or may not have made several jersey shore jokes. GTL baby.
Makaela had a busy, fun filled day on Friday. The girl's social calendar is hot.
She got to go to work with Daddy for a few hours while Mommy went into the office. Just picture a bunch of grown men in camo swooning over the little girl. I know right? My heart melted too.
According to Tim's report she was a VERY good girl. I didn't have any doubts! That's a lie. I was a little worried.
After I picked her up we went on a Starbucks coffee date. Just mommy and daughter. We had some time to kill before her next "activity" and I needed a lemon cake pop in my life.
After Starbucks we headed over to her 4pm photo shoot appointment. A local photographer who is working on establishing her business was doing eff-argh-ee-ee FREE 20 minute photo sessions. If you like the photos after she works her editing magic on them you can purchase prints from her website for darn cheap. Once they are available I'll be sure to share the link.
It was a lot of fun and the photographer kept boosting my ego by saying what a doll baby Mak is. Here's a couple photos that I took while we were waiting for our turn.
The girl's a ham. Love her.
....and a video because sometimes pictures just aren't enough.
