Pool days

The pool is open and we are l-o-v-ing it! Each time we go Mak gets more comfortable, and more courageous. She really enjoys the splash area, but also loves when Daddy or Mama takes her all the way in the pool to swim. Mak always has her eyes on the big kids. God, before we know it she'll be jumping right in.

Makaela is a true southern girl now and has all of the must-have essentials for staying safe in the sun, while still having fun.

We really appreciate how easy going she is when it comes to wearing a hat, sunnies, and water shoes. She doesn't love the sunscreen application part, but at this point, she has accepted it, haha.

Oh and we've tried a couple swim diapers - a reuseable one from the Honest Company - LOVE! Granted, she hasn't gone potty in it yet, so we might change our tune if that happens ;)

Also, loving the disposable Lil Swimmers, but they can get a little pricey if we're using them often!

In addition to spending time at the pool, we along with our friends have started to bust out the kiddie pools and sprinklers. The kids are having a blast!

And we have a blast watching the silly things they do and snapping photos of the ridiculous faces they are always making...

Someone thinks they are hot stuff, I won't name names ;-)

First trip to the pool

We've traded in our hoodies and boots for bathing suits and flip flops! Our new community has a pool that we are fortunate to live right across the street from. This is actually really nice because we can see if it is open before we get all suited up (it closes 3487 times a day for thunder).

Before Tim left for school we took Makaela on her first trip to the pool to go "swimming." We were excited!

I didn't have my bathing suit yet because this was before our household goods had arrived, so Daddy did the honors of taking her for a dip. She was not super impressed with her first pool trip, and truth be told this was totally mommy and daddy's fault. The timing was off and she needed a nap.

But we didn't give up. When my brother was here we decided to give the pool another go. This time we planned ahead and picked the right time of day.

And guess what? She LOVED it!

She spent nearly 45 minutes playing in these fountains. She loved plugging them up with her toes and then letting go and having the water squirt out and splash her. The next time we went I took her into the actual pool and again she loved it. Yes, my love for my child overpowered my hatred for bathing suits.

Mak was like Z's personal lifeguard...always had her eyes on him. It was adorable. She likes when we splashed and made waves and she kept her feet kicking non-stop. The water really seemed to relax her.

She was KNOCKED OUT afterward. Score!!

We only wish the pool was open all year. We'll just have to squeeze in lots of fun before they close it up Labor Day weekend.
